Project Information In September 2009, GRG and its consulting team began updating the Citizen-Driven Regional Plan. The goals of the 12-month update process are to: • Establish a framework for prioritizing future greenway development and for evaluating existing greenways; • Determine ways to expand awareness and usage of existing trails and greenways; and • Increase future support for the development of The River Ring and individual greenways. To help guide and inform the process, GRG established four advisory committees: Citizens’ Advisory Committee, Technical Advisory Committee, Peer Review Committee, and a Regional Advisory Committee. These committees include more than 140 people representing the interests of citizens, residents, communities, municipalities, as well as private, non-profit, and government organizations. With the assistance of these committees, the consulting team was able to conduct 17 workshops and listening sessions. The input received thus far is helping to refine GRG's goals and to identify partnering organizations that will support GRG in building, promoting, and sustaining The River Ring. Status: This project started in September 2009 and is targeted for completion in late 2010. Partner(s):
